Peterborough Cursillo #18
Launde is a beautiful venue for Cursillo, particularly when the warm weather invites visitors into the grounds. So shone the sun upon our Cursillo weekend from 2-4 October, welcoming 15 Cursillistas and 9 pilgrims. The agenda of reflections, talks, discussion and worship fits easily into two days, with free time beside to enjoy the house and gardens. Judith kept us all in order and oversaw a relaxed environment throughout. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the clo

Second Cursillo Training Day takes place
The second staff training day was held within Oundle church, who kindly offered a chapel for our use. Judith guided us through the who, what, where, when and why of the Cursillo weekend which takes place at Launde Abbey in early October. We will welcome nine pilgrims to their Cursillo weekend. Please pray for both our pilgrims and our staff. Ultreya!

Book review - How to Pray: A Simple Guide for Normal people
A book review by Tim Kidger Pete Greig is good with words. So, this book is very easy to read. His style is casual and friendly, and he is almost alarmingly candid about himself and his relationships, and therefore it is very easy to identify with him. He also has a wealth of stories and examples which help you understand the principles that he sets out for the reader. He is also a lover of the bullet point and acronyms, which makes it very easy to make notes and to recall

Preparation for Peterborough Cursillo #18
The first training day for this year’s Cursillo was held on 18th July at St. Denys church in Ravensthorpe. Twelve members of staff assembled to: · be informed which person is in charge (!) · clarify the message for the weekend; · discuss our roles on the weekend; and · rehearse some of the talks to be given by the lay staff members. Three absent members of the team will join the second training day. Ten pilgrims will join us at Launde Abbey in Octo

Ultreya Wellingborough - June 2026
Ultreya! In June, our Ultreya gathering at St Andrew’s Church Wellingborough was a delight to enjoy. Our typical hearty worship was supported by a live band, driving us forward with both rhythm and vocals. Tour dates will surely be announced shortly! Uplifted by the worship, group reunions injected a quiet space within which to be able to share with our pilgrim companions our recent spiritual journey highlights and lowlights. Our witness spoke of their recent consideration of

A response to the witness statement of Mark Willis for Ultreya 24th January 2026
Thank you, Mark, for your witness statement. It is interesting to hear about your journey of faith and your reflections in the light of the passages of scripture and the wat people came to hear the Good News. Our journeys are never a straight line or simple formula which lead to God and your story in many ways probably mirrors that of some of us here. What your words highlighted to me is that things don’t always happen in what we might call ‘the right order’ or at the most op

Witness statement: Ultreya 24 January 2026
Tomorrow I am speaking in church to the reading from Acts which describes Saul’s journey to Damascus, the events which take place and Saul’s conversion to faith in Jesus Christ. It caused me to think on different paths to faith which are described in the bible. One of the criminals crucified alongside Jesus took a very short path from suffering to faith when he asked Jesus to remember him in heaven. Some people hear mere words when the Good News is spoken, but Lydia heard the

Book Corner
Recommended Book for Lent 2026 Although you may not be ready to focus on Advent, I would like to recommend a book for Advent in 2026. Listening to the Music of the Soul by Guli Francis-Dehqani This book features eight chapters, each exploring biblical narratives related to Advent. While I read it on my own, it is also well-suited for group study. At the end of every chapter, Guli Francis-Dehqani includes links to music that resonates with the chapter’s theme and there are que

Lay Directors report, AGM 14 March 2026
This will be my last report as your lay director as I am stepping down at the AGM. It has been a privilege to serve as Lay Director. Over the last year we had a successful weekend at Launde Abbey, Peterborough #17 and I want to thank all the staff for their contributions to the weekend. We have also had several successful Ultreya’s and I am grateful to all who have hosted and shared witness talks and shared in the group reunion. I am grateful too for Tim who hosts the monthly
