Recommended Book for Lent 2026

Although you may not be ready to focus on Advent, I would like to recommend a book for Advent in 2026.

Listening to the Music of the Soul by Guli Francis-Dehqani

This book features eight chapters, each exploring biblical narratives related to Advent. While I read it on my own, it is also well-suited for group study. At the end of every chapter, Guli Francis-Dehqani includes links to music that resonates with the chapter’s theme and there are questions for reflection. She explains her reasons for choosing each piece of music and describes how it connects to the chapter’s subject.

Personal Reflection and Spiritual Journey

Throughout the book, Guli encourages readers to weave the story of their own lives into the larger narrative of God’s enduring love and purpose for salvation.

It was an inspiring and thoughtful read and accompanied by the music choices gave a different approach to Advent study one which I recommend.
